It glides through the cold vacuum of space, passing over the warm waters of the Caribbean and looking down upon the awakening markets of a reforming Cuba.
For decades, Cuba has been frozen in a political and economic time capsule. But today, we are witnessing the trembling, beautiful sunrise of its own liberation as the island nation tentatively embraces free-market economic reforms. It is a messy, beautiful, and deeply human transition. Yet, as the world stands on the cusp of these magnificent transformations, a strange paradox emerges. Why does it seem that so many of us would rather hide within the plastic nostalgia of Toy Story 5 than face the brilliant sunrise of our own real-world freedom?
